Moroccans and Algerians may no longer be able to travel to the EU due to Covid-19 spike

    29 Jul 2020

Moroccans and Algerians will, reportedly, no longer be able to travel to the European Union, according to EU diplomatic sources. Speaking to Euronews, the decision is due to the increasing number of Covid-19 cases in the two neighboring countries.

The European Union opened its borders on July 1 to thirteen countries, including Morocco and Algeria. However, the list is subjected to changes every fortnight. The same source told Euronews that Morocco and Algeria «will be removed» from said list.

Serbia and Montenegro were part of the countries that got the greenlight to travel to the EU but were both removed from the list due to an increase in Covid-19 cases.

For the record, Morocco has more than 21,000 coronavirus cases, with an increased number of daily confirmed cases.
